Mama is a loving dog with the sweetest heart. She has a lot of love to give but her terrible start to life means you have to earn it. Don't worry, it doesn't take too much to win her over and once you have her trust, there's no turning back. Mama is learning what love and comfort really is and she has a lot of kissed and cuddles to give back in return. Mama is great with other dogs and has lived with other 15 other foster dogs during her time with us.
Mama has a rough start to life. She lived on the street and by the age of two had already had two litters of puppies. We rescued her when she had her second litter and she has been with us ever since. Mama was beaten while she lived on the street and can still flinch around fast movements or loud noises, but she is also the first to give you a warm welcome home and a kiss in return for a belly rub. Mama has welcomed many other foster dogs into her space and is great with all of our new rescues. She has also welcomed several volunteers into her home and grown comfortable around them in a matter of hours.
Mama needs a patient family who are understanding of her background and triggers. Mama can be reactive to new people in her space as she is nervous, which results in barking and running away. With a proper introduction and consistent training, Mama is quick to come around. Ideally, Mama would move to a home that doesn't get a lot of new visitors. She could be rehomed with other dogs, her daughter Rufina, and cats. Mama would love a large, secure yard to explore.
